Tower Vibes: Winter Wizard Edition

Tower Vibes (Winter Wizard Edition) is a short LARP inspired by Riding the Ley Line (from Moss, a.k.a beatingthebinary) for finding the fantastical in the mundane. A PDF of this winter version is available at the bottom of the page.

You are a wizard. 

It is a cold winter's night and you are in your tower. You are enjoying a quiet, contemplative night in. Your tower is decorated in enchanting lights, luscious evergreens, and stars aplenty. 

Your tower may hark back to festive times of old, but you are a contemporary wizard. You relish in current technologies and trends. And, unlike your predecessors, you are content with knowing you can relax and not delve into the late hours of the night toiling over tomes. 

You can just chill. 

You've spent the day crafting intricate spells and so now you can create a relaxing environment to rest your weary wizard body.

To start —- 

Magic and music are near one and the same. 

Roll a D12. Make a playlist while listening to music with that number of songs. 

Curate with care. 

Next —-

There is power in words. Promises. Intentions. Resolutions.

Think of a word you want to embody this season.

Make a plan to do so by using that word as an acronym.

For example,

WARMTH

W – Write and send letters

A – Acquire more blankets 

R – Read a chapter a day

M – Meet with friends

T – Take more naps

H – (Make) Homecooked meals

JOY

J – Journey to new places

O – Open myself to new experiences

Y – Yoga classes 

Now, choose —- Stars, Evergreens, Candles, or Snow ? 

If you cannot decide, roll a D4. 

If you chose: 

Stars  — The shining symbols of guidance, curiosity, and hope. Enjoy a story or show and let your mind and imagination wander. 

Evergreens  —  Resolute. Life. Both homes and home decoration. A reminder to stand steadfast and tall in your already tall tower, but find a way to feel grounded. Whether that be through meditation, journaling, dancing…

Candles  — In this time of darkness, we could all use some warm comfort. Light your favorite candle, incense… Make your tower smell comforting. 

Snow  —  Water is beautiful and dangerous, in all forms. Snow covers the land and fills the sky around you. Bathe in your finest elixirs and feel the ever-changing power of water. 

And lastly —- 

Change out of your robes, grab your potion of choice, and take a long rest.
